Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS)

This is a half day (4 hour) course which explores the topic of depriving individuals of their liberties in order to safeguard them. It goes hand in hand with the Mental Capacity Act course and we would recommend booking both together. This course is for anyone who works with individuals who may have a DoLS in place or who have to make assessments as to whether there is a need to apply for a DoLS.

This course covers:

- What DoLS means
- The legislation surrounding DoLS
- DoLS and human rights
- Why there is sometimes the need for DoLS
- The process of DoLS
- DoLS in a healthcare setting
- DoLS and restraint
- When DoLS cannot be used
- DoLS and children
